STEP Center Vision and Mission

Sonoma State's STEM Teacher Education Pathways (STEP) Center, housed in the College of Education, Counseling, and Ethnic Studies, is committed to advancing equity in STEM education by preparing and supporting a diverse, justice-oriented P-12 teaching workforce across the North Bay.

Our vision is to:

  • Expand and diversify the P–12 teacher workforce in mathematics, science, and computer science by promoting equity in access, affirming teacher and student identities, and challenging systemic inequities in STEM education.
  • Support P–12 educators in creating inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments that integrate science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computer science (STEM) in ways that are relevant to the communities they serve.
